Santan Prapti Remedies and Child Yoga in the Kundli

Where the birth chart shows children, what the classical signs of delay really mean, when the timing turns kind, and which simple, safe remedies support a couple alongside their doctor's care.

Almost every couple carries a quiet hope of hearing a small child laugh in their home. When that hope stretches over a few years, questions begin to surface. Is something in the kundli? Is there a dosha nobody told us about? Relatives ask, neighbours advise, and too often a finger is pointed, without any basis, at one partner, usually the daughter-in-law. This article is written to ease that confusion. Through the lens of Vedic astrology we will look at how santan yoga (the combinations for children) is read in a birth chart, what the classical signs of delay actually say, how timing is judged, and which santan prapti remedies are simple, safe and easy to do at home.

Two things must be said at the start. First, astrological remedies go alongside medical care, never in place of it. If children are taking time, both husband and wife should see a qualified doctor. Second, no remedy is a guarantee. A remedy done with regularity and faith steadies the mind, makes a hard period easier to carry, and keeps hope alive at home. The Kundli Milan Jyotish team has written this piece in that spirit: understanding instead of fear, support instead of blame.

First, a reassurance: it is never one partner's "fault"

A child comes from two people, so the shastra (the classical texts) looks at two charts. The 5th house of the husband's kundli and the 5th house of the wife's carry equal weight. No rule in jyotish says delay comes only from the woman's chart, and medicine agrees: check-ups are done for both partners. So a gentle request to elders: please do not blame anyone. Taunts weigh on the mind, and in jyotish the mind is ruled by the Moon. The calmer the Moon, the lighter the waiting feels.

A word about words, too. Old texts say "putra-karaka", "putra bhava" and "Putrada Ekadashi". Putra literally means son, but here the meaning is simply a child, son or daughter. We make no prediction about the sex of a child, and if any astrologer promises "it will surely be a boy", please walk away. A daughter is every bit as much a blessing.

Where children are seen in the kundli: the 5th house

The twelve bhavas (houses) of a birth chart describe twelve areas of life. The 5th, the pancham bhava, is the house of intelligence, learning and children; classical texts also call it the "putra bhava". The same house governs purva punya (merit carried over from past good deeds) and mantra practice. Children, merit and mantra all sit in one house, which may be why tradition gives mantra and good deeds a special place when a couple prays for a child.

What is examined in the 5th house

  • Which planets sit in it. Benefics (gentle planets) such as Jupiter, Venus, a strong Moon or a well-placed Mercury are seen as support.
  • Which planets cast their drishti (aspect, or "glance") on it. Jupiter's aspect is the most auspicious.
  • Where the lord of the 5th, the panchamesh, is placed, and how strong it is.
  • The condition of Jupiter, the natural significator of children.
  • How the 5th house looks counted from the Moon and from Jupiter.
  • What the saptamsha (D7), a finer divisional chart, shows.

No single factor decides anything alone. Jyotish reads results by combining many signs, much as a doctor speaks from the full picture, not one test.

The panchamesh: lord of the 5th house

Counted from the lagna (the sign rising in the east at birth), the lord of the fifth sign is the panchamesh, the "owner" of the house of children. Find your lagna and read your panchamesh here.

When the panchamesh sits in a kendra (the 1st, 4th, 7th or 10th house) or a trikona (the 1st, 5th or 9th), in its own sign or sign of exaltation (where a planet is strongest), or receives Jupiter's aspect, it favours children. When it falls in the 6th, 8th or 12th (the dusthanas, or difficult houses), is combust (too close to the Sun, its voice muted), or is debilitated (in the sign where a planet is weakest), tradition calls the placement one that "asks for care". Asking for care is not saying no. Keep that difference in mind throughout.

Santan yoga in the kundli: the hopeful signs

The classical texts list many yogas (planetary combinations) for the joy of children. In plain words, their essence is:

  1. The 5th lord and the lagna lord sit together, aspect each other, or occupy each other's signs.
  2. Jupiter is strong and aspects the 5th house or the 5th lord.
  3. Benefics occupy or aspect the 5th house.
  4. The 5th lord is strong in a kendra or trikona.
  5. The 9th lord (lord of fortune and dharma) is connected with the 5th lord, a lovely union of merit and children.
  6. In the saptamsha too, the 5th house and its lord are in good condition.

If even two or three of these appear, that is reason for hope. If they do not, there is still no reason to lose heart: the question is read from both charts, changes with the dasha (planetary period), and draws support from remedies.

Jupiter: the karaka of children

In jyotish every area of life has a karaka, a planet that naturally signifies it. Venus is the karaka of marriage and the Moon of the mind; Jupiter (Guru, Brihaspati) is the karaka of children, which is why it is called the putra-karaka. It is also the planet of wisdom, dharma and the blessings of elders. Jupiter is examined in both charts. When it is weak in one and strong in the other, the stronger Jupiter supports the whole household.

When Jupiter is strong

  • In Cancer Jupiter is exalted, its strongest placement.
  • Sagittarius and Pisces are its own signs.
  • It sits in a kendra or a trikona.
  • It is far enough from the Sun not to be combust.

From which houses Jupiter aspects the 5th

Every planet aspects the 7th house from itself, but Jupiter has three aspects: the 5th, 7th and 9th. So if Jupiter sits in the 1st, 9th or 11th house, its glance falls directly on the 5th: the 5th aspect from the 1st, the 7th aspect from the 11th, the 9th aspect from the 9th. Tradition regards this as very auspicious, and you can count it in your own chart in a minute.

When Jupiter needs support

Jupiter is debilitated in Capricorn. Very close to the Sun it is combust, like a lamp burning in daylight: lit, but hard to see. Joined by Rahu or Saturn, tradition says its good results come more slowly. Any of these simply means that Jupiter's remedies deserve special care: Thursday worship, its beej mantra, respect for elders, helping someone's education.

There are also classical rules of neecha bhanga (cancellation of debilitation). If Saturn, lord of Capricorn, or the Moon, lord of Cancer, sits in a kendra from the lagna or the Moon, Jupiter's debilitation is largely cancelled. So do not panic at the single word "debilitated".

The 5th house from three points: lagna, Moon and Jupiter

Jyotish likes to see an important matter from three starting points.

  • 5th from the lagna: children seen from the body and life's basic direction. This is the first look.
  • 5th from the Moon: seen from the mind. Treat the Moon's sign as the first house and count five. It shows how settled or anxious the mind feels about this subject.
  • 5th from Jupiter: seen from the karaka. Count five from Jupiter's house; reading a house from its karaka is a very old method.

If all three are healthy, the indication is strong. If one is weak and two support, the support prevails. So one weak point need not frighten anyone.

The saptamsha (D7): the finer chart for children

The birth chart (D1) maps the whole life. For a closer look, jyotish uses varga charts (divisional charts), such as the navamsha (D9) for marriage. For children it is the saptamsha (D7): each 30-degree sign is divided into seven parts of about 4 degrees 17 minutes. For a planet in an odd sign (Aries, Gemini, Leo, Libra, Sagittarius, Aquarius) the count starts from that sign; in an even sign, from the seventh sign from it. Software does this instantly. What is examined:

  • The strength of the D7 lagna and its lord.
  • The 5th house of the D7 and its lord.
  • Jupiter's placement in the D7.
  • Whether the birth chart's 5th lord reaches an own, exalted, friendly or debilitated sign in the D7.

One caution: the D7 lagna changes on average every fifteen to twenty minutes of birth time. If the birth time is uncertain, do not lean on the D7; the birth chart, Moon and Jupiter give firmer ground. A D7 reading built on a guessed time deserves only as much weight as the guess.

Both charts together, never one partner's "dosha"

On children, jyotish places both kundlis side by side. If the 5th house is weak in one and strong in the other, the stronger chart supports the home. So declaring "the dosha is in this person's kundli" from one chart is neither correct by the shastra nor kind. In many families the burden is quietly placed on the woman, but the kundli makes no such distinction. The right method is both charts, both dashas, both partners' health, and both standing together.

Beeja sphuta and kshetra sphuta: tradition reads the pair

A special classical calculation makes this clearer still. For the husband, the beeja sphuta (seed point) adds the longitudes of the Sun, Venus and Jupiter. For the wife, the kshetra sphuta (field point) adds the Moon, Mars and Jupiter. (A sphuta is a sensitive point found by calculation.) The beeja sphuta is favourable in an odd sign and odd navamsha, the kshetra sphuta in an even sign and even navamsha.

The shastra itself made one calculation for each partner and asked that the two be read together; weighing one partner alone is simply not part of it. And this is no certificate of anyone's "capacity", only a classical indication. The truth about the body comes from a doctor's examination.

Classical signs of delay: understanding, not fear

Now to the factors the texts link with delay. Read them with one sentence in mind: these are indications, not verdicts. A chart usually also holds what softens each one, and every indication has a remedy.

Malefic planets on the 5th house

Saturn, Rahu, Ketu, Mars and, in some conditions, the Sun are called papa grahas (malefics, planets of a harsher nature). The word does not mean "evil"; it describes a planet that gives results after effort or time. When these sit in or aspect the 5th, tradition says the joy of children may take time or extra patience.

PlanetWhen it touches the 5thWhat tradition saysPlain meaning
SaturnIn the 5th, or aspecting from the 3rd, 8th or 11thSlowness, delayIt takes time, but what comes lasts
MarsIn the 5th, or aspecting from the 2nd, 10th or 11thHeat, strainPatience, and care for health
RahuIn the 5th, or by its traditional aspect from the 1st or 9thConfusion, restlessnessKeep calm, avoid rumours
KetuIn the 5thDetachment, a spiritual pullPrayer gives support
SunIn the 5th, especially in a weak signHeat, stubbornnessConfidence without haste

A benefic's aspect softens these effects a great deal. With Saturn on the 5th and Jupiter also aspecting it, tradition speaks of delay, not obstruction. A malefic in its own sign also guards its house: for a Libra lagna the 5th is Aquarius, Saturn's own sign, so Saturn there is not considered harsh.

Saturn delays; it does not deny

People flinch at Saturn's name, yet in jyotish it is the planet of effort and patience. Its nature is to give late but to give lastingly. Its shadow on the 5th simply means the joy of children may take time, and that patience, care for health and steady remedies help during the wait. See this waiting not as punishment but as preparation.

When the 5th lord is weak

A 5th lord in a dusthana, combust or debilitated is called "weak". Yet it can still be supported by a benefic's aspect, by the strength of its dispositor (the lord of the sign it sits in), by a good placement in the navamsha or saptamsha, or by neecha bhanga. The greatest support is time: when the dasha of Jupiter or another benefic touches the 5th, that period is considered favourable.

Rahu or Ketu in the 5th, and talk of pitru dosha

When Rahu or Ketu sits in the 5th, many people call it a major dosha and push expensive rituals. In truth it is an indication: restlessness of mind, difficulty deciding, sometimes changing one's mind again and again about treatment. The simple remedy is to stay with one trusted doctor, worship Shiva and chant 'Om Namah Shivaya'. Do not spend large sums because someone frightened you.

Many families also mention "pitru dosha" (an affliction linked to ancestors). Classical texts do carry some ancestor-related indications around the 5th house, but pitru dosha as described today, for instance Rahu joined with the Sun, belongs to a later tradition. Remember the ancestors and offer food in the shraddha days out of faith, never fear, and never treat it as any one member's fault; honouring ancestors is the whole family's shared duty.

When the timing turns kind: dasha and Jupiter's transit

A kundli shows "when" as well as "what". The two timing tools are the dasha, the inner clock, and the gochar (transit), the weather outside.

The dasha: the running chapter of life

The most used system is the Vimshottari dasha, a 120-year cycle: Ketu 7 years, Venus 20, Sun 6, Moon 10, Mars 7, Rahu 18, Jupiter 16, Saturn 19 and Mercury 17. Within each mahadasha (major period) run antardashas (sub-periods). Tradition considers these favourable for children:

  • The mahadasha or antardasha of the 5th lord.
  • The dasha of a benefic sitting in the 5th.
  • The dasha of Jupiter, especially when strong or linked with the 5th.
  • The dasha of the 9th lord, since the 9th is the 5th counted from the 5th and is seen as its helper.
  • The dasha of a planet strong in the saptamsha.

A difficult mahadasha does not mean nothing can happen for its whole length; a benign antardasha shows its effect even inside a hard major period. The dasha also runs separately for each partner. When both are favourable together, or at least neither is difficult, the period is considered better still.

Jupiter's transit: a moving blessing

Gochar means where the planets move in the sky today. Jupiter spends about a year in each sign and circles the zodiac in about twelve years. These are considered auspicious:

  • Transiting Jupiter passes through the 5th house of the birth chart.
  • It aspects the 5th from the 1st, 9th or 11th.
  • It passes over, or aspects, the 5th lord.
  • The same points are also checked from the Moon sign.

Because Jupiter changes sign yearly, such a combination returns every few years. That is the hopeful side: kind periods keep coming back.

Some modern scholars also use "double transit", where Jupiter and Saturn touch a house or its lord together. It is a newer approach, not found directly in the classical texts; the old order is dasha first, transit second. And honestly, dasha and transit show a window, not a date. If anyone gives you a fixed date for a child, hear it as a hope, not a promise.

Nadi koota: the koota of health and progeny

Before marriage, kundli matching uses the ashtakoota (eight compatibility tests, 36 gunas or points). The heaviest is nadi, worth 8 points. The 27 nakshatras (lunar mansions) fall into three nadis of nine each: Adi, Madhya and Antya. Behind this lies the Ayurvedic idea of vata, pitta and kapha, which is why tradition links nadi with health and the joy of children.

NadiAyurvedic qualityIts nine nakshatras
AdiVataAshwini, Ardra, Punarvasu, Uttara Phalguni, Hasta, Jyeshtha, Mula, Shatabhisha, Purva Bhadrapada
MadhyaPittaBharani, Mrigashira, Pushya, Purva Phalguni, Chitra, Anuradha, Purva Ashadha, Dhanishtha, Uttara Bhadrapada
AntyaKaphaKrittika, Rohini, Ashlesha, Magha, Swati, Vishakha, Uttara Ashadha, Shravana, Revati

Nadi dosha and its exceptions

Different nadis earn the full 8 points; the same nadi scores 0, which is nadi dosha. The shastra gives three exceptions:

  1. The same Moon sign, but different nakshatras.
  2. The same nakshatra, but different Moon signs.
  3. The same nakshatra, but a different pada (quarter of the nakshatra).

When an exception applies, the shastra calls the dosha "diminished", not erased. So our calculation gives 4 of 8 points in such cases and shows this openly. Our marriage report never advises against a marriage because of a low score; nadi is weighed separately with its classical weight, and remedies are given where needed.

The 5-9 bhakoot

Bhakoot (7 points) is also linked with children. It looks at the distance between the two Moon signs; 6-8, 2-12 and 5-9 lean towards dosha. The 5-9 relation, "nava-pancham", is connected with children because the 5th is their house. It too has classical exceptions: if both Moon signs share a lord, or their lords are friends, or both nakshatras share a lord, the bhakoot dosha is considered cancelled.

Already married, with the same nadi

Many couples learn years after the wedding that they share a nadi, and grow anxious. Please do not. A great many such couples have homes full of children's laughter. Nadi asks for attention to health: regular medical guidance and, by tradition, worshipping Shiva and Parvati together, chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya', and feeding those in need within your means. It does not mean "the marriage was a mistake"; it only means you now know what to care for.

Santan prapti remedies: simple, safe and rooted in jyotish

Remedies are not a bargain with a pleased planet. Their spirit is to give the mind direction, live with some discipline, and remember the power tradition sees as the giver of life. Every remedy below is harmless and easy at home. It is best when husband and wife do them together, which itself says: "This is our shared prayer, not one partner's shortcoming."

First: with the doctor, not instead of the doctor

Astrological remedies go alongside medical care, never in place of it. Doctors commonly advise that if pregnancy has not happened after a year of trying, or after six months if the woman is over thirty-five, both partners should be evaluated. Do not postpone tests or treatment for a muhurta (auspicious time), and never take herbs or ash preparations from a baba or stranger without asking your doctor.

The Santan Gopal mantra

The best-known mantra for the wish for a child is the Santan Gopal mantra, a prayer to Shri Krishna in his child form as Gopal:

'Om Devakisuta Govinda Vasudeva Jagatpate, Dehi Me Tanayam Krishna Tvamaham Sharanam Gatah'

It means: "O son of Devaki, Govinda, Vasudeva, Lord of the world, Krishna, grant me a child; I take refuge in you." The word "tanaya" is understood here simply as a child, son or daughter.

  • After the morning bath, sit facing east or north.
  • Place a picture or small image of Bal Gopal (Laddu Gopal) before you, light a ghee lamp, and offer tulsi leaves.
  • Chant 108 times daily, one mala (rosary of 108 beads), for at least 43 days without a break.
  • Both partners may chant; together is even better.
  • Afterwards, say your own prayer in simple words, as to a beloved elder.
  • On a day you are unwell, chant silently in the mind. Discipline does not mean hurting the body.

Jupiter's beej mantra and Thursday worship

As Jupiter is the karaka of children, its beej mantra (a planet's short seed mantra) is a special support, especially when Jupiter is debilitated, combust, or joined by Rahu or Saturn.

'Om Graam Greem Graum Sah Gurave Namah'

Begin on a Thursday: 108 times daily for at least 43 days. A yellow mat or cloth is a gesture, not a condition, since yellow is Jupiter's colour.

Thursday is Jupiter's day, and the worship of Lord Vishnu is prescribed:

  • Light a lamp before Vishnu's picture and offer yellow flowers and a pinch of turmeric.
  • Chant 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya'; if time allows, recite the Vishnu Sahasranama.
  • Give chana dal, turmeric, bananas or yellow sweets within your means.
  • Touch the feet of parents, teachers and elders for blessings; tradition holds that Jupiter is pleased most quickly by respect for elders.

The Putrada Ekadashi fast, only if health allows

Two Putrada Ekadashis fall each year, in the shukla paksha (waxing fortnight) of Paush and of Shravan. Tradition knows this fast for the wish for a child; "Putrada" is an old word, and the prayer is for a child, son or daughter. People worship Vishnu, hear the Ekadashi story, and chant 'Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya'.

Fast only if your health allows. Anyone under treatment, on medicine, or living with diabetes, thyroid issues or anaemia should ask their doctor first. Take fruit and milk, or simply worship without fasting. During fertility treatment, follow your doctor's diet. The divine is pleased by devotion, not hunger.

Reading or hearing the Harivansh Purana

The Harivansh Purana is regarded as an appendix (khila) to the Mahabharata, telling of Shri Krishna's lineage and life. Tradition has long recommended reading or hearing it when a couple wishes for a child. A few pages daily at home are enough; no grand event is needed. When grandparents read aloud and the couple listens, it becomes the whole family's prayer.

Worshipping Shiva and Parvati together

Shiva and Parvati are revered as the ideal couple, and their children, Ganesha and Kartikeya, are a lovely symbol of the joy of children. So tradition holds it very auspicious for husband and wife to worship them together.

  • On Mondays, offer water or milk to the Shiva linga together.
  • Chant 'Om Namah Shivaya' 108 times.
  • Offer Mother Parvati a red chunri, flowers or the auspicious items of a married woman.
  • At the end, pray for each other too. This small moment draws a couple closer.

Giving to children's causes, within your means

Serving what one longs for is an old idea in our tradition. When the wish is for a child, serving children is the most beautiful daan (charity):

  • Food, fruit, clothes or books for an orphanage or children's home.
  • Help with a needy child's school fees, notebooks or uniform.
  • Yellow fruit or sweets for children on Thursdays.
  • Support for an organisation caring for mothers and newborns.

Give only what you comfortably can; charity that strains the household budget becomes a burden, not a remedy. Give quietly, not for show.

Peace of mind: the Moon's support

Waiting weighs most on the mind, which jyotish assigns to the Moon. If the Moon is weak or shadowed by Saturn or Rahu, the waiting feels heavier. The Moon's beej mantra helps the mind settle:

'Om Shraam Shreem Shraum Sah Chandramase Namah'

Chant it on Mondays or before sleep. Walk together each day and talk about other things too. If you feel the need, speak with a counsellor; that is not weakness but wisdom.

A caution about gemstones

Many people suggest a yellow sapphire (pukhraj, Jupiter's gem) for children. If you wish to wear a gemstone, do so only after showing your complete chart to a knowledgeable astrologer; the gem of a planet that needs to be calmed can have the opposite effect. In many charts Jupiter also rules a difficult house, and there mantra, worship and charity are the safe path.

A weekly rhythm: one simple plan

There is no need to begin everything at once. Here is a rhythm you can adjust to your life:

DayWhat to doWho
DailySantan Gopal mantra, 108 timesHusband and wife, together if possible
MondayShiva-Parvati worship, 'Om Namah Shivaya'; Moon mantra for the mindBoth together
ThursdayVishnu worship, Jupiter's beej mantra, charity of yellow itemsBoth
Ekadashi, especially PutradaVishnu worship; fast only if health allowsWhoever is able
One day a weekA few pages of the Harivansh PuranaAny family member
Once a monthGiving to children's causes, within meansBoth

One remedy done with a full heart beats ten done half-heartedly. If a day is missed, do not scold yourself; begin again tomorrow.

What to avoid

The heart grows tender during the wait, and some people exploit that. Stay away from:

  • Blaming anyone, whether wife, husband or daughter-in-law.
  • People who frighten you into expensive rituals.
  • Hanging lemon and chillies, burying nails, throwing things into water, using hair or nails, or black magic. These are neither remedies of the shastra nor safe.
  • Any herb, ash or medicine taken without your doctor's advice.
  • Harsh fasting while weak or during treatment.
  • Talk of "it will surely be a boy". A child's sex is not a matter for the kundli, and no preference between son and daughter is right.
  • Postponing treatment because a muhurta or an astrologer said so.

A word to elders as well. Your concern comes from love, but repeated questions make the couple's burden heavier. The finest remedy you can offer is trust at home: read the Harivansh Purana and let the children listen. The affection of elders is considered Jupiter's most direct strength.

Your own remedies from our kundli milan report

The whole article comes down to one sentence: the question of children is a question of two charts. A conclusion from one kundli is incomplete, and placing the burden on one partner is wrong. The Kundli Milan Jyotish team built its reports on this thinking: each is made from both people's dates, times and places of birth, and reads both kundlis side by side.

Already married: the Pati-Patni Kundli Milan

For married couples waiting for a child, there is the Pati-Patni Kundli Milan. It reads both charts: all eight kootas from this relationship's point of view, including nadi, which tradition links with health and progeny; the karakas of married life, Venus and Jupiter, with the navamsha, the same Jupiter that is the karaka of children; the Moon, the state of both minds; and the present dasha and sade sati, the next eight antardashas with dates, and when both partners' periods ease together. Then the remedies, for whom and on which weekday, and a full weekly order.

An honest word: our report does not predict when a child will come, or whether one will. It reads the relationship, the mind, the present period and their remedies from both charts, and during the waiting years these are what travel with a couple. It never blames either partner; it tells you which remedy is for whom, and when.

Yet to marry: the Vivah Kundli Milan

For those whose marriage is ahead, there is the Vivah Kundli Milan: the 36 gunas, manglik matching, and especially nadi and bhakoot, the two kootas tradition links with health and children, with their classical exceptions. The full report also reads the children side of both charts as indications, combining the saptamsha, the beeja and kshetra sphuta, the 5th house and nadi. These are indications, not predictions, and the report never advises against a marriage for a low score; where it sees a gap, it gives the remedy.

In both, the full result opens on the site right after payment. The full report comes as a PDF, with both kundlis, the complete method for each remedy, a weekly order, and "Your questions, straight answers". Choose the match that fits you below.

Frequently asked questions

How is santan yoga seen in the kundli?

First the 5th house is examined: the planets in it, the aspects on it, and its lord, the panchamesh. Then Jupiter, the karaka of children, and the 5th house counted from the Moon and from Jupiter. After that the saptamsha (D7), if the birth time is reliable. Most important of all, this is done in both the husband's and the wife's charts and read together with the present dasha.

Does delay in children come only from the wife's chart?

Not at all. In jyotish the 5th house, Jupiter and the dasha are examined equally in both partners' charts. Tradition even assigned the beeja sphuta to the husband and the kshetra sphuta to the wife, so the shastra itself weighs the two together. Medicine also examines both partners. Blaming either one is neither correct by the shastra nor fair.

How long and how should the Santan Gopal mantra be chanted?

Chant it 108 times, one mala, each morning after bathing, before a picture of Bal Gopal with a ghee lamp lit, for at least 43 days without a break. Husband and wife may both chant, and sitting together is even better. On a day you are unwell, chant silently in your mind. And chant it alongside medical treatment, never instead of it.

Does nadi dosha mean there will be no children?

No. Nadi dosha is a classical indication that asks for attention to health; it is not a verdict. Many couples with the same nadi have healthy children. There are also three classical exceptions that diminish the dosha. Married couples respond with medical guidance, worshipping Shiva and Parvati together, chanting 'Om Namah Shivaya', and giving food to those in need.

How does the kundli show a favourable time for children?

Through dasha and transit. The periods of the 5th lord, Jupiter, the 9th lord or a benefic in the 5th house are considered favourable, along with Jupiter's transit over or aspecting the 5th house. Both partners' dashas are read together. But this is a window, not a fixed date, and within it medical advice and good health matter just as much.

Should I wear a yellow sapphire for children?

If you wish to wear a gemstone, do so only after showing your complete chart to a knowledgeable astrologer; the gem of a planet that needs to be calmed can have the opposite effect. In many charts Jupiter also rules a difficult house. Jupiter's beej mantra, Thursday Vishnu worship and charity of yellow items are a safer path, and they are complete remedies without any gem.

If an earlier pregnancy was lost, is that the result of a dosha?

Such an experience hurts deeply, and it is nobody's fault. First, see your doctor for a full evaluation and advice; they will guide the care ahead. To support the mind, you may chant the Santan Gopal mantra, Mother Durga's 'Om Dum Durgayai Namah', and worship Shiva and Parvati together. Please do not blame yourself or your spouse; this is a time to hold each other close.
